BENEFIT, OLD-WEST STYLE
It’s no accident that local country-rockabilly performer Jadi Norris named his 2009 album Man of Steel. A drunk driver once nearly took his life in an accident that resulted in numerous back surgeries and a body held together today by titanium. (And you thought your airport screening sucked!) More recently, he slipped and fell in a hotel shower, hitting his right arm on the soap dish so severely-he hit an artery-that he was told he’d never play guitar again. (He re-learned it.) In other words, Norris has much to be thankful for this holiday season-so he’s decided to give back a little bit.
Norris will be opening three shows for the Legends of Country Music house band, which performs classic tunes by country greats, at Old Tucson Studios, 201 S. Kinney Road, over the weekend. Each show is, according to a press release, a benefit “for military men and women from Southern Arizona who have been deployed. Their families will receive support through social services and activities that will help them cope with a loved one’s deployment.”
On top of that, Norris is seeking contributions in the form of non-perishable food and personal items (i.e., toiletries and household cleaning products) to be donated to the Community Food Bank. To sweeten the deal, he’s providing an incentive in the form of personalized merch: Donate 10 items, and you get a free autographed CD; 20 items, and you get the CD and a T-shirt; and for those who see it in their hearts to donate 30 items (bring your own wheelbarrow), Norris will call anyone you choose, on the spot, to extend a personalized holiday greeting.
The shows begin at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 27; and 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 28, and take place in the Grand Palace Hotel and Saloon at Old Tucson Studios. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 on the day of show. For more details, call 883-0100.
Jadi Norris Breaks The Indie World Top 20 with His Rowdy Second Single
Jadi Norris joins the company of Rascal Flatts and George Jones among the Top 20 on this week’s Indie World Country Record Report. “I’m excited to see country radio starting to open their doors with my second single,” says Jadi. “It means so much when artists like myself travel to new markets on a tour and you see fans in the audience that already know the words to your songs. I’ve got country radio to thank for that!” Home Is Where The Heart Is, the current single from his debut Make Hay album, has been receiving great reviews. Below are some of the recent comments on the record.
“A strong first album that holds a little something for everyone.”Country Entertainment USA - November Issue “Twang rock, with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Pile-driving and lotsa fun.”Robert Oermann - Music Row “It is a great album with a variety of songs and styles that never gets boring.Norris wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 13 songs on the album showing Jadi is notonly a great singer but a great songwriter as well.”

“Jadi has obviously learned how to write and pick strong songs that stand on
their own as well as fit his voice nicely. Make Hay is a strong debut album
from a man who has honed his craft. The album is fun, entertaining, and

Jadi’s zealous pursuit of life and the stage has also seen its share of dark periods. A drunk driver nearly claimed his life resulting in countless back surgeries and a body pieced together with titanium. His friends jokingly refer to him as the “Man of Steel.” That wasn’t his only dark night as a bizarre incident at a hotel would prove to be his most trying situation. While showering, he slipped and fell hitting the soap dish chipping it into an unlikely weapon. It cut deeply into his right (guitar playing) arm hitting an artery. The damage to Jadi’s arm was so severe he was told by multiple doctors that he’d never play guitar again. Undaunted, he hired a guitar player and kept entertaining. For the next three years, through tenacious determination, he retaught himself to play guitar again. Jadi has since graced the stage alongside chart toppers Trace Adkins, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith and Martina McBride. For current updates and news, visit www.jadinorris.com.

JADI NORRIS is bringing it, baby!
“Home is Where the Heart is,” the debut single from the stunning new album “MAKE HAY” by Arizona-based singer-songwriter-guitar-slinger, JADI NORRIS is, according to IGO Records President, Kacey Jones, “….a smokin’ up-tempo well-crafted song performed by a superb country singer with a 4-octave range.” Jones signed Jadi (pronounced “JD”) and his indie record label, Jumpin’ Armadillo, to a national distribution deal upon hearing the album. “You’ve not heard the real Jadi Norris until you’ve heard this exceptional album” says Jones. “Radio, if you’re looking for TEMPO, Jadi Norris Is bringin’ it, baby!”

Jadi Norris’ Patriotic Debut Breaks the Top 50 on New Music Weekly
Hail the American Soldier, the lead single from Jadi Norris’ debut record proves patriotism still survives in the country market breaking the Top 50 on New Music Weekly. “I am excited to see this track climb to 47 on NMW and 29 on the Indie Charts. People told me I was crazy to release what some would call a novelty record as the first single, but the message behind this track is one that we all can relate to,” says Jadi.
This patriotic tune is the first track from Jadi’s July 27th release Make Hay. “This track really hit home for me because everybody at the family reunion has had a combat experience,” says Jadi. Truly living up to its lyrics, Jadi visited the Fort Carson Military base just outside Colorado Spring, CO a few weeks ago alongside country leaders Darryl Worley and Trent Tomlinson. They signed autographs and mingled with active servicemen and their families.
Make Hay features the patriotic tune alongside Jadi’s rockabilly fused with contemporary country sound. Slated for a late summer release to country radio is the rowdy Home is Where the Heart Is. “With the new single, people are going to get a really good taste of the energy I put into my live shows. This is my ‘honky-tonk-hillbilly-in overdrive’ side!”
International Country Music Database Album Review
FOUR STARS (out of FIVE STARS)
From International Country Music Database

IGO Records/Jumpin’ Armadillo Records
4 stars (out of 5)
Jadi Norris has spent years on the road honing his musical skill and style. His debut CD, Make Hay, shows that he has learned more than a thing or two on the road. He has melded a diverse group of songs with styles from country, to southern rock, to honky tonk, to 50’s-influenced ballads to create an album that is entertaining and cohesive. While you know that each song is being sung by Jadi and none of them sound out of place, there is no feeling of repetition on this album.
Sometimes I get a little nervous when I see that a debut album contains songs written mostly by the artist. It can be an indication that the album will not be as strong as it should be. However, this is not he case with Jadi. He wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 13 songs on the album, but they are all good, solid songs. Jadi has obviously learned how to write and pick strong songs that stand on their own as well as fit his voice nicely.
All of the songs on this album are well worth taking a listen. From the upbeat honky tonk “Borrowed Time,” to the 50’s-influenced “Not Coming Back,” to the rocking “Workin’ Man’s Saturday Night,” to the patriotic “Hail the American Solder,” to the strong country heart breaker “Just Learn to Close My Eyes,” there is something for everyone on this album.
Any song that can stop me in my tracks and make me listen is a strong song. “Not in Love By Morning” is one of those songs. It is about a woman who realizes her relationship with a married man is only robbing her of what she deserves. Jadi’s vocals are strong and vulnerable throughout the song. This song will touch many people’s hearts and souls.
“She Needs Me” is another ballad excellently delivered by Jadi. It is a tribute to a woman who loves and needs her man. He promised her the moon, but things haven’t worked out the way he planned, but she still needs him in the way that is evidence of a love that is true. Again, Jadi’s vocals are touching and draw you in with their truth and strength.
But Jadi isn’t just about touching ballads. “Home is Where the Heart Is” is the exact opposite with it’s up-tempo kiss-off attitude! A man’s wife has left him, saying that he didn’t give her what she needed. He feels that he’s worked his butt off to meet her expensive tastes. So, now, he’s not so broken up about her leaving. The spoken part at the end of the song is hysterical as he ticks off all the things he won’t miss and all the things he is going to do now that she’s gone. This song is just pure fun!
In all, Make Hay is a strong debut album from a man who has honed his craft. The album is fun, entertaining, and touching – everything a person could ask for in one CD. Pick it up today!
