Life from the Road Jan 2011

If I have disappointed, then so be it.
There was never any intention to fall short of other’s expectations; however, they are the expectations of others.
I have given my all to all; my mind, heart, and soul.
I accept your judgements; I offer no apologies for reaching towards the loftiest goals.
I am a lone traveler, ridiculed and misunderstood by some, yet undeterred and confident
throughout my soul that I am following the path designated to me by the Almighty.
As a tree grows, rivers flow
and each being on this Earth
fulfills it’s purpose and destiny
by functioning as it was designed-
and may in no other way fulfill it’s own destiny as ordained by God.
Flailing away in desperation and anger
only wastes valuable time and energy-both of which are finite and precious.
To accept limitations and exploit strengths,
whether those limitations and strengths are pleasant or not,
is the single path to the seductive enlightment that every being seeks.
I am a musician; born to it and both condemned and honored to be a musician ’til my last breath.
I will not let discouragement and loneliness distract me from my mission to succeed.
Defiance in the face of failure is mine to embrace-
An obstacle is just one more hill to traverse-one slow step at a time.
I can’t stay-I’m needed elsewhere.
Ahead to tomorrow, in hopes that tomorrow may be kinder than the present.
Tomorrow
The trials of today will seem distant
the aches and pains will be unrecallable
And the distance between then and now will be intangible.
Someday, my reward will come and even if I am not here to accept that reward,
there are those whom I love that will benefit from my toils and trials.
Forever forward-to cease to advance is to embrace paralysis and death.
MOVE! Walk on-do not linger in today-it won’t last long.
The trials of today will make sense with distance and the passage of time-and not until then.

Jadi Norris closes the year and kicks off 2011 by collecting donations for F.I.S.H. (Friends In Service Helping) at his Elko performances. “I wanted to get the New Year started on a good foot by reaching out to an organization that feeds and shelters those in need throughout the Elko Community,” says Jadi. “I hope everyone will come together to celebrate the holiday and help us jump start F.I.S.H. in 2011.” Soulbilly singer/entertainer, Jadi Norris, is set to perform at Stockmen’s Hotel and Casino Thursday, December 30th through Sunday, January 2nd.
F.I.S.H. is local, non-profit organization that provides for individuals seeking urgent or supplemental food and housing in Elko and surrounding counties in Northeastern Nevada. The organization is currently in need of any non-perishable canned goods, sealed personal hygiene products and winter clothes (hats, socks, gloves, coats, etc.).
Jadi will take the stage to perform hits from his debut project Make Hay which has charted two singles — the current rowdy track Home Is Where the Heart Is, and his patriotic debut Hail the American Soldier. To further motivate the audience to donate items at his merchandise table, the following rewards will be provided.
Benchmarks
- 10 items = free autographed CD
- 20 items = free autographed CD and t-shirt
- 30 items = Jadi will call anyone you choose to extend a personalized holiday greeting from Jadi live at the table.
Full details on the performance are below.
Date: Thursday, December 30, 2010 through Sunday, January 2, 2011
Time: 8 PM
Location: Stockman’s Hotel and Casino
Address: 340 Commercial Street Elko, NV 89801
Phone: (775) 758-5141 or (800) 648-2345
Jadi’s zealous pursuit of life and the stage has also seen its share of dark periods. A drunk driver nearly claimed his life resulting in countless back surgeries and a body pieced together with titanium. His friends jokingly refer to him as the “Man of Steel.” That wasn’t his only dark night as a bizarre incident at a hotel would prove to be his most trying situation. While showering, he slipped and fell hitting the soap dish chipping it into an unlikely weapon. It cut deeply into his right (guitar playing) arm hitting an artery. The damage to Jadi’s arm was so severe he was told by multiple doctors that he’d never play guitar again. Undaunted, he hired a guitar player and kept entertaining. For the next three years, through tenacious determination, he re-taught himself to play guitar. Jadi has since graced the stage alongside chart toppers Trace Adkins, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith and Martina McBride. For current updates and news, visit www.jadinorris.com.

Looking Back-October 2010

Hello Everyone.
The first question I am asked these days is “So, what’s happening?” Well, here’s a synopsis of the past few months.
In September of 2010, I made some changes to the band. I brought two new guys on board (Chris Chambers on drums and John Bennett on keys) and WHAT a difference they have made. I really enjoy these people-they are consummate pros and the sound coming off stage is just great. Not only that, but also these guys are great to work with and have contributed tremendously in every way. Very thankful to be surrounded with quality guys.
The end of September and beginning of October has seen the calendar fill up. There have been some grueling weeks in there-a couple of weeks found us playing five nights and twenty-plus hours of sweating it out on stage. Spent many hours in the truck- nine hours one-way to Farmington, New Mexico…Fourteen hours one-way to Elko, Nevada…
Many hops to Phoenix, Flagstaff, Casa Grande, Tucson, and on and on. There is something comforting about being out on the interstate in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. It’s also comforting to actually get to the gig, get the show ready, and play music for all of these new people. Made a lot of new fans and new friends, which I am thankful for.
September saw the release of the new single “Home Is Where the Heart Is”.
The radio promo team (including Kacey Jones and Abby Montgomery from Airplay Specialists, Bill Wence Productions, and Jerry Duncan Promotions) has been stellar.
Being an independent artist going up against the giant marketing machines of the major labels has been a daunting task, but the “little ol’ radio team that could” has been chugging along and doing an outstanding job. Debuted at #37 on IndieWorld charts (highest debut single for that week).
With the addition of promoter Chris Taylor and the continued efforts of PLA Media, I have a lot of hope for this track.
Even got a GOOD review from Robert K. Oermann (to go along with the other good reviews I’ve gotten from International Country Music Database, etc). Means a lot to get Robert K.’s approval. After all, he is the Siskel AND Ebert of Country music.
Thank you, Mr. Oermann.
The new website came online (www.jadinorris.com)-all the news that fits…Began a new venture with COMLINK (Wynne Adams and Pam Lovelace)…excited about what those two firecrackers are going to bring to the party. Getting booking help from two outstanding companies, MPAC Talent out of Houston, Texas and Goldline Entertainment from Phoenix, AZ. GOD BLESS the booking agents!
The ever-growing success of the ‘Make Hay” CD has been a little bittersweet for me. I said goodbye to my Dad this September-on my birthday, in fact. Dad was the biggest motivator in my early career. He gave me strength, wisdom, and encouragement when no one else did. He truly believed that I had a special gift and that I could “make it” if I never gave up. I am so sad that he cannot be here to share in all good stuff that’s going on, but I know that he sees. I know that his spirit is with me.
There are a few more people behind the scenes that continue to sacrifice willingly to help me climb this mountain: Mr. & Mrs. Cunningham; my wife, Tara, and our three beautiful girls, my brothers and sisters. These folks support me with their love, pocketbooks, and the sacrifice of time. I must admit, I feel guilty sometimes because of the wealth of blessings that all of the aforementioned people bring into my life. Just makes me work harder to see this project succeed.
One last thing-I got a new tattoo. (See picture).
Right forearm-always visible, especially when I play. A tribute to my Dad and a birthday gift from my beautiful wife and kids.
